More artists inducted
Another two lovely artists endured an early start for their mandatory health and safety inductions. Looking suitable enthusiastic despite feeling totally jaded they sat through a tool box talk highlighting the areas of concerns for the health and safety officer Rory, at Bank Street Construction site.
Yuting and Tom smiling despite the early start!
Suited and booted in PPE, quickly after the induction, we were given an escorted tour of the Bank Street Site with site manager Jamie. Jamie gave the two new artists an overview of the project and I was amazed how much the site had developed and grown since my last visit.
The core has risen significantly in a very short space of time.
The core of the building is being raised by around 2 metres at a time and is expected to be completed by 22nd December 2016
Jamie with Yuting and Tom
Yuting and Tom take a well deserved, albeit brief, breather before the next tour.
After an interesting overview of a commercial site we raced over to Wood Wharf which is an extensive residential site on the other side of Canary Wharf for another site tour. There had been uncertainty over whether I could organise a site tour at Bank Street due to staff shortages and so had a back up plan. Fortunately for the artists they had a really in depth and comprehensive tour of Wood Wharf too. Nick was our guide for this tour. Nick gave an overview of the project which is the biggest development project in London and is being timetabled in stages.

Concrete is being poured and levelled
After a full on morning without a stop for a drink we finally get to the residency space and are able to stop for a brief respite. From 1pm we are joined by five of the other artists and have a discussion of where we are all at and how things are presently and what possible new developments are on the horizon. Exciting times ahead.
